Sadie and Kailee at Quincy MineBesides spending a lot of time near and in the water, our week also involved rocks. We visited Quincy mine (copper mine.) A few days later the kids took a Junior Ranger class offered through the National Park headquarters in Calumet. The class was all about rocks in the area, how they were formed, and they also touched on the mining history in the area. The kids were really enthused about the class- I listened in on the tail end of it after I was done at the laundromat- and it was a very good presentation.

While we were at Fort Wilkins, we caught part of a presentation on looking for Lake Superior Agates- and we spent some time digging through the rocks on the beach. Ron especially enjoys looking for agates.

We would love to get a good rock tumbler. If anyone has advice on what to get and if they actually get used, let me know.
