Lovely lyrics.

The freedom of homeschooling is that when a student really is into a topic or subject, you can continue pursuing it until they are satisfied.

Sadie has been working with poetry and has been having a lot of fun with it. She started with limericks. Then she claimed she liked to write poetry that doesn't necessarily rhyme- and lines a little more "romantic" of nature-my word not hers. The book we have been working with had a couple of poems playing off the Joyce Kilmer poem, "I think that I shall never see, a poem as lovely as a tree..." so I wanted her to do her own version.

Well, she did not want me suggesting what she should write about. No way.
But in the end she did compromise. Here it is:

I think that I never see
a bug as lovely as a bee.
It makes honey for our tea,
what a lovely little bee!

I did get a chuckle when I read this- her compromise between what I wanted and what she wanted. She is of my own heart in the creative solution department. Today I am introducing her to haiku.
