Ethnic Fest.

On Saturday we woke and up felt like going "bumming" for the day. I heard an ad on the radio for the Ethnic Fest in a town about an hour from us, so we hit the road. I was lonesome to spend some time as a family- all this school business had me missing my kids, especially as a "bunch"- with homeschooling we spent so much time as a unit- going on field trips, doing projects, etc., that I was already missing it.
There was a parade at 11, and we got to town just in time for it. Above is a little boy who was walking in the parade with his parents. Isn't he cute? The parade was great. It had a different flavor than most- ethnic, of course. It was entertaining.

I enjoyed seeing these Native Americans in their "jingle" dresses. Apparently there had been a pow-wow the night before. I think that would have been really interesting to attend. Maybe next year.

This struck me as really funny.

We had some really good, authentic gyros at the festival- so yummy! We peeked in some of the local shops and listened to some good "ethnic" music. We wandered the streets and took in a "mini-vacation" and enjoyed the sunshine after days of rain.
