Inch by inch.

With a few inches of snow over the last week, we finally accumulated enough snow to pull out the skis today.

In our yard. We live in a "snow bowl" on the southeast side of a big hill, when the wind blows from the north, the snow blows over the hill and drops in our yard. And there it stays, not blowing away.

There's not enough snow in the fields to cushion a ski over the bumps and ruts.

We pulled out our motley collections of skis and boots that we've bought at thrift stores and took some rounds around the yard and down the hills. It was fun to be outside, and the sunshine even shone for us!

A breath of fresh air.
